Yes, there have been 2 Amphicars that recently sold for crazy money at a televised, well hyped auction. This is an anomaly only, purchased by wealthy folk who are willing & (more importantly) able to spend more than the car's actual value, and this is not indicative of real world prices that you should expect to pay or receive for your Amphicar. If you were to see these prices paid in at least 3+ different sales (not just televised auctions), then and only then should it be considered to be indicative of a potential value. - Webmaster and Amphicar restorer

1960 Black Primer Amphicar

Comes with re-buildable 1500 engine
ZERO filler or patching in car - ALL METAL as shown in pictures, as came from Factory.
Was media blasted and epoxy primed
maybe 2,000 miles on her - not in water since 64 . . . transmission is perfect !
all seams great . . . needs some lead work on Swiss cheese holes in rear panels
Has original numbers matching 1200 in it now - complete (does not run)
Also comes with rebuildable 1978 1500 cc engine (long block)
Note, original muffler is in excellent condition - consistent being low miles
Front Deck Lid and Engine Deck Lid are in very good condition - couple very small holes only
Even though an early 1960 model, has the later style transmission with Large Fill Hole for Land Transmission

We have a red 1966 and don't really need two, so the blue one has to go!

Amphicar/Schwimmwagen

Believed to be the only Schwimmwagen in the USA! Runs drives, swims and floats with excellent performance and reputation.

The Amphicar by IWK was the model imported to the USA; the Schwimmwagen by DWM was exclusively for the European and Asia markets and they were not known to be imported to the USA. This "Rare" and unique find was professionally restored and given a re-birth approximately 5 years ago by an individual in California. It has had many updates and modifications for excellent performance and service well into the next several years, as well as recent service to all brakes, wheel bearing and running gear. The entire car was also re-wired and changed to negative ground. The graphics were all hand painted by a local artist.

A real "EYE Catcher" and "Crowd Pleaser" at shows, rallies and get togethers, as well as driving down the street and lake hopping. It's time for this little Shark to swim on to new waters and experience new friends and conversations.

Amphicar-related ads for Members (including member businesses) of the International Amphicar Owners Club are absolutely free and will also run in the bi-monthly Club Newsletter, which is mailed to over 300 Club members worldwide, many of whom may not have home access to the Internet. Club Members can place an ad by simply emailing it to the Club Prez. Feel free to attach a few scanned photos of the car or other item or service being sold. Non-members can place an ad here and in the Club Newsletter for only $10. Please contact the Club President for details. Alternatively, you can mail your ad, photos (we'll scan them) and a check or money order for $10 to: International Amphicar Owners Club, 322 South Bluff Street, South Beloit, IL 61080.

To appear in the forthcoming Newsletter issue, your ad must be received by 15th of the month prior to the Newsletter being published. Newsletters are published bi-monthly in January, March, May, July, September and November.

All ads for cars must include a price and you must also provide the VIN (not required not be listed in the ad, if requested) for the registry, and no car or other singular item put up for sale here may be the object of a concurrent online auction such as eBay.

We've already got an excellent link for Amphicar-related eBay auctions in the Tips for Prospective Web Toed Motorists section at the top of this page anyhow. Besides which, such "double-dipping" all but ensures a guaranteed waste of time for potential buyers here, since a particular item cannot be legally sold at any price while it is the subject of an auction once a valid bid is placed. If you decide to auction an item that's already up for sale here, please let us know so we can remove your ad for the duration of the auction. The obvious exception is where there is more than one of an object being sold.

TIPS FOR PROSPECTIVE WEB TOED MOTORISTS

Another popular place nowadays for buying and selling Amphicar parts, collectibles and whatnots, sometimes entire cars, is eb^ay™. To perform a worldwide search for all current Amphicar-related auctions in progress that also filters out most of those time wasters who are really selling something like grommets for a '62 Snordley, but who just lobbed the word "amphicar" into the auction's text as part of a spammy "calling all cars" bait-n-switch come-on, just click here.

You should also be aware that even though you may have seen a few cars advertised for boat-loads of cash, it DOES NOT mean they are getting that price! We have seen those overpriced cars too, and they rarely (if ever) sell at even close to that price. Do your homework by asking a club member or restoration expert what they believe the car may be worth. It could save you that preverbal boat-load of cash you will need to restore it.
